Dr Shatha Shibib (MB CHB, MRCPsych, MSc Child Helath, Dip Derm) is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, with extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families. She graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Dundee in 2003 and completed her postgraduate medical training in Sheffield. She became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2018. She obtained a Masters degree with Merit in Paediatrics & Child Health and a Foundation degree in Family therapy from the University of Leeds with Merit. She also has a Diploma degree in Dermatology from the University of Cardiff.
Dr Shibib is a NHS Consultant and holds the position of Associate Medical Director at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, one of four specialist major children hospitals in England. She has completed two terms as Clinical Director prior to this appointment. Her expertise in Child and Adolescent psychiatry includes the specialist assessment and treatment of children and young people with, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, PTSD, Panic, Obsessive compulsive disorder and Depression.
Dr Shibib's clinical and academic interests include ADHD and Paediatric psychodermatology. She has contributed to and published academic literature for ADHD and coexisting mental health conditions. She is currently leading research trials at Sheffield University, looking at early intervention in Atopic Dermatitis and the impact on maternal attachment and infant development and is researching the effects of Inflammation on the brain.
Dr Shibib is passionate about teaching and holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at Sheffield University. Dr Shibib has also held the the position of Training Programme Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Specialist Higher Training in South Yorkshire for Health Education England.
She is dedicated to improving mental health services for children and adolescents to ensure they thrive in all aspects of their lives to reach their full potential.
